Agenda: Confronting Racism, Xenophobia, and Gun Violence: With Distinct Emphasis on Global Responses to Combat Brutality Against LGBTQ+ and Other Marginalized Groups
Welcome to the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM) at JBCN Senior MUN!
As the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, SOCHUM is dedicated to addressing fundamental human rights issues within the global community. Our focus spans the welfare and rights of protected groups, including refugees, children, and victims of discrimination.
This year, our agenda centers on Confronting Racism, Xenophobia, and Gun Violence with a particular emphasis on global responses to combat brutality against LGBTQ+ and other marginalized groups.
SOCHUM derives its authority from the UN Charter, and our goal is to devise peaceful solutions to the wide-ranging social, humanitarian, and cultural challenges facing the international community.

Rikhav Shah
Assistant Director
Greetings delegates,
It is my utmost honor to stand before you as the assistant director of The Third Committee. Action-packed with a lot of interesting and controversial crises, I can assure you that the SOCHUM is gonna be a unique and one of a kind experience. Other than that, I can guarantee a pleasant start to your weekend and a lot of knowledge about a superpower’s legislative institution and its members.
To all the first timers in the MUN, I highly urge you all to put in all efforts into this MUN as your chances of winning an award is relatively high in this conference. I hope to see radical communiques, fiery and enthusiastic speeches, and diplomatic solutions to crises and the agenda. If at all, any of you have any doubts or questions regarding anything, you can find me on the 7th floor. Please don’t be afraid to ask even the silliest questions as those doubts may end up being the gap between you and an award.
Most importantly delegates, I want all of you to have fun and take away learning and knowledge from this conference. It would bring me a lot of joy and pride when I see familiar faces win awards at higher levels. I hope to see many of you take up MUN as a hobby or a co-curricular in the future. With that being said, the idea of interacting and spending my weekend with each one of you during the MUN fills me with excitement and anticipation. Let’s make this conference a memorable and enriching experience for all of us.
All the best,
Rikhav shah,
Assistant Director of SOCHUM
